The delegation of the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) led by Dr. Ian Campbell, Temporary Executive Chairman of the Innovative UK visited Fudan University on the morning of December 3, 2019, focused on accessing to Human Phenome Institute (HuPI), which has the first cross-scale and multi-dimensional precision measurement platform for human phenomes in the world. Dr. Gemma Bridge, Director of the CEO’s office of the UKRI, Ms. Lang Lin, Director of the UKRI China, and project manager Ms. Liang Hongyan also accompanied the delegation.
Vice President Professor Chen Zhimin met with the delegation on Zhangjiang campus. Lu Li’an, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Li Dan, Deputy Director, Yang Peng, Director of the Vertical Project Office from Institute of Science and Technology, Professor Chang Jun, Associate Dean of the HuPI, Professor Ding Chen, Associate Dean of the HuPI, Fan Shaohua, Researcher of the School of Life Sciences , Professor Luo Jingchun, Director of the Precision Measurement Platform of the Human Phenome, and other scholars and experts attended the reception that day.
The UKRI is the leading public institution for R&D funding in the UK. Over the years, relevant institutions of China have established firmly cooperation with the UKRI. Currently, there are 60 joint research projects funded by national-level institutions of China and the UK, which concerns more than 170 bilateral institutions with a total funding of 270 million pounds. The principal areas of these joint projects include energy, environment and food safety, manufacturing, aging and health, social and cultural creative industries, etc.
In future, the HuPI will work closely with the UKRI, jointly promoting the international collaboration between China and the UK on the study of the Human Phenome.
